From drinks retailer Conviviality to mobile phone software firm Globo, London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) has seen quite a few businesses collapse. The increase in companies forced off the market through administration and other financial issues (16 in 2018 compared to just 9 in 2017), seems to back up Hiley’s criticism that it is too easy to list on this junior market, which results almost inevitably in these blow-ups.

Hiley argues, ‘AIM has overheated, fuelling eye-watering valuations for many of the larger constituents.’
