Careers

Somewhere you can thrive, working with and exposed to some of the smartest minds in the industry. Acting with independence and integrity.

“This is still a people business and talent is key. Without great people we have no business, I am extremely proud of the talent that exists within our business and love to see new starters develop quickly, add strength to our team and value to our clients. Every day, through client feedback, I am reminded of what an exceptional team we’ve built. We are ambitious and want to grow with our clients which requires continuous investment in people.”

Mark Hiley, Founder & CEO

Learn With Us

Wellbeing

Successful teams are happy and healthy. People work better when their mental and physical wellbeing are well looked after. We therefore want to foster an environment that prioritises wellbeing.

  • Comprehensive set of health coverage and an employee assistance programme.
  • Wellbeing calendar that focuses on key aspects of physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Monthly wellbeing check ins with every staff member.
  • We encourage a culture of high standards and high care, with regular team activities as well as space for one-to-one support.
  • Generous holiday and pension entitlement.

We heavily invest in our team’s wellbeing and check in to make sure we’re doing the right things. We’re proud to have been awarded the Great Place to Work certification and we attribute a lot of that success to our wellbeing programme.

Our Culture

“The ability to say what you think is probably the most important part of why I’m here.”

James Armstrong, Senior Analyst

We thrive on independent thinking; stocks are our passion – enthusiastic stock picking is how we started, and why we’re still here. We’re focused on intellectual authenticity, a willingness to strive and we want to create a space where our team can excel while staying happy and healthy in a demanding industry.

Great Place to Work

“Our story started 13 years ago with two friends at a kitchen table arguing over stocks. As our business has grown, its essential essence hasn’t changed: Strive to find great stocks, challenge the ideas and care for each other. Our aim with Great Place to Work, and our many HR initiatives, is to institutionalise the values evident around that kitchen table and so create an environment that excels for clients, strives to help colleagues achieve the best of themselves and gives back through meaningful charitable association. And, of course, to maintain an environment in which stock obsessives can live their passion of looking for, finding and arguing over great ideas.”

Mark Hiley, Founder & CEO

A Great Place to Work ranking survey was provided to all The Analyst staff. The survey is formulated to provide positive and negative responses. GPTW charge for this service, which is open to all employers in the UK.

The Analyst has supported Sarcoma UK since 2011. The partnership is the legacy of Jonny Scriven who died from Sarcoma while in his early thirties. Mark Hiley, our CEO and founder, had worked with Jonny at Fidelity since they were 21. They were setting up The Analyst together with other former colleagues when Jonny was diagnosed with Sarcoma. In Jonny’s last few weeks, Mark promised to donate a share of profits as the business grew to Sarcoma UK, the charity that had supported him after his diagnosis.
These contributions are specifically allocated to Sarcoma UK’s research initiatives, aimed at enhancing diagnosis accuracy, developing advanced treatments, and improving outcomes for Sarcoma patients.

Sarcoma UK is a national charity dedicated to funding crucial research, providing support to individuals affected by Sarcoma cancer, and advocating for improved treatments. It remains the sole UK charity focusing on all forms of Sarcoma and has become a major supporter of Sarcoma research, having invested over £5.5 million in 76 research projects to date.
