Our Founder Mark Hiley accepted an award on behalf of The Analyst at from a national cancer charity at a ceremony in Downing Street.
The Analyst has supported Sarcoma UK since 2011 and won the charity’s Partnership of the Year award that was presented at 10 Downing Street on 27 November. Minister of Health and Social Care, Andrew Stephenson MP was among those attending.
The partnership is the legacy of Jonny Scriven who died from Sarcoma while in his early thirties in 2011. Mark Hiley worked with Jonny at Fidelity since they were 21. They were setting up The Analyst together with other former colleagues when Jonny was diagnosed with Sarcoma.
In Jonny’s last few weeks, Mark promised to donate a share of profits as the business grew to Sarcoma UK, the charity that had supported him after his diagnosis.
More than a decade on, The Analyst has an ongoing commitment to the charity, supporting Sarcoma UK’s expanding research programme to make diagnosis more accurate, develop new and better treatments, and improve outcomes for Sarcoma patients.
Mark said at the ceremony: “It absolutely blows my mind what the Sarcoma UK team achieves year in and year out. Sarcoma UK has become such a core part of the business and so aligned with our values. We hope that we can keep on delivering for Sarcoma UK.”
Sarcomas are uncommon cancers that can affect any part of the body, on the inside or outside, including the muscle, bone, tendons, blood vessels and fatty tissues. There are around 100 different sub-types of sarcoma cancer.
Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. It is the only cancer charity in the UK focusing on all types of sarcoma. It is now one of the biggest funders of sarcoma research in the UK, having invested more than £5.5 million to 76 research projects to date.
